Cat Tree

Aside from petco and petsmart, what store in Austin might have a fantastic selection of cat trees?  I'm checking out Bark&Purr this week, but I have a hunch they're out of my price range.

Alternately, anyone in Austin build cat furniture?  I really want a cat tree type thing with a bed on the top instead of just a shelf, but they don't seem to exist.

I have an assistant manager who also makes cat trees... I dont know how much they run... but he makes ones that arent like the store bought kind. You can find him at Habana on South Congress... he also works as a bartender. His name is Wally.

It'd be hard for them to be much more than commercial ones are. I paid like $150 for a 6' one, which just seems to be rather insane. I'd definitely go custom next time, especially since the only part that's ever used is the very top.

I recommend going up to the pet store at the outlet malls in round rock. I saw them going for pretty cheap, comparatively, up there.

Or you can just surf craigslist - I got a 6 foot one for about $100, since someone was moving. :)

And I think we both have tuxedo cats. Yay tuxedo!

Not cheap, but definitely one of the best there is:

Angelical Cat

Mine lasted for years and was so sturdy that I had to take a chainsaw to it before the trash men would pick it up when I moved.

Amarakat cat trees are usually cheap and really well built.

I got mine at walmart and it was like $40. Its not elaborate, but it goes from floor to ceiling with the scratch post going all the way up. It has 4 shelve things that are covered with the same scratch post material. my cats love it, they sleep on it, play on it, and escape from the dogs!!!

They have a good selection, though nothing terribly cheap unless on sale and then you have the shipping costs. Still, I wish I had room in my house for some of the cat perches they offer.

Costco had one with a thing on top like a bed last week.

Also target is carrying a new line, that are made out of nylon. The stuff those fold out chairs are made of, our cats love those chairs, more than any of our cat furniture, so we were thinking about getting one of those.

I got a great Amarakat tree with a bed on top for like $20 on e-bay. The shipping was $40 since it's pretty big, but we still saved a lot of money that way.
