free or flexible mental health clinic

I desperately need a mental health clinic that will see me for free or will bill me after the visit; I don't have insurance at the moment and I have 20 cents in my pocket and 93 cents in my bank account and no available balances on credit cards.  I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown and I'm scared that I'm going to completely lose it before I can see someone because of the financial situation.  I just started my job last week after being unemployed for almost four months, so somewhere that can see me after 5:00 and somewhere that won't try to make me stay overnight would be greatly preferred because I can't be calling in sick my eighth day on the job.

It's so difficult to get into a free clinic on short notice, but I'm guessing you know about http://www.atcmhmr.com/need_help/Hotline.html

In a non-smoke-up-your-ass way, being employed is enormous. Without a clue about your situation, I can tell you that debtors and collectors and the electric company understand "i just got a job, please wait" better than anything else. I don't know how to answer your original question, but I do know that your 8th day on the job is as stressful as the day before you found it. Stay on target! And my hopes are with you!

Congratulations on the new job.

Waterloo Counseling targets the glbtq community, but they're open to everybody. http://www.waterloocounseling.org/

They do sliding scale and they might be able to do a payment plan.

There is an MHMR emergency line and an emergency room available 24/7 for severe mental crisis, 454-3521
The person who answers can give you directions to the facility if you need to go in.
