Company Christmas Party!

I've volunteered to help plan my department's Christmas party this year, and I'm looking for venues a bit early.

We're looking for a restaurant that can hold about 50 people separately from the rest of the restaurant. They should have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and the RSVP folks should be pleasant to work with. Anywhere in Austin is okay, but central or north is preferred. We're basically looking for 2-3 hours of dinner, no partying.

Where have you guys had your company functions before? Where was cool, and where sucked?

One company I worked for had a room in Three Forks, and a very good dinner. Their specialty is meat, but they had really decent vegetables, and I am pretty sure there were vegetarian options.

Well first, for HR reasons, let's call this a "Holiday Party" ...

I'm not sure that you're starting early.. we've had our venue booked for several months already. Things go fast around that time...
We also have a bit over 100 employees so that makes for a ~200 people party, so we tend to book at hotels or larger venues.

If you're just looking for a dinner only, that is very different.

I just got married so I've been to quite a few places recently. I would suggest checking out Shoreline Grill, if they're not already booked. It's perfect for a private dinner, central location, and I hear only good things on the wedding boards about that place and the girls who work there.

Good luck!

Good luck!

you might want to try ztejas on 6th. i've never had a company function there, but i was inspired to have my wedding reception there after attending a reception there held by a law firm. they have a separate room that would be very nice for 50 people (i had 60 people at my wedding). the food is very good and they have vegetarian options. their staff was very helpful and accommodating -- kimberly, their event coordinator, was wonderful.

consider the alamo drafthouse for a unique event!

We actually went to Alamo Lake Creek earlier this year - it was great. :) Not really what we're looking for this time around, but it's definitely on our list for next time.

We have ours at Four Seasons, which is very nice.

My company did a couple things at Habana Calle 6 and I thought it was pretty good. The veg option was a little basic but good. The room was downstairs and fairly cozy.

Sixth street location with no parking might not be ideal. But it was more fun any other Xmas party. Might have been seriously attentive waiters.

We moved to Chez Nous last year and that was nice, too.

Won't know for sure until October, but probably around $3000.

i went with a friend of mine to a dinner at Carmelo's..it was really really nice. they had us go to a completely different part of the restaurant and we were separated from even seeing any other guests, it was real nice and holiday-y...they had parking there AAND we were so close to to 6th that a bunch of people just moved the party over to some bars after the dinner was over..i'm pretty sure they'd have veggie options.

I went there for something else with about 20 people. It was nice and I think we sat in the same place you did, which was cool.

A few years ago, my office had the party at Mirabelle Restaurant on Mesa. It was in a private room and really good. My friend was in charge and she said they were easy to work with.
