Portable A/C

Anyone know where in town I could find an affordable portable air conditioner? You know, one of those free standing ones with a exhaust hose. OR, even better, someplace that would rent me one for a long weekend?

Boat Ramp under the 360 bridge..

We are about to put our new boat in for the first time this afternoon. I was thinking that the ramp under the 360 bridge would be a good spot to avoid a lot of towing around hilly locations (we are ending up in Emma Long Park). Anybody have an experience at that boat ramp? Is it crazy, busy, steep? None of us are very good at this trailer in reverse shit and I'd hate to be pissing everybody off as a couple beginners stumble through their first launch. I might say fuck it, why should I care, you got to learn sometime and they can suck it up. Anyway, how is that place?

Austin Sketchgroup

Hello, Intarnet! We are teh Austin Sketchgroup, a society of local visual artists, and we would like to invite you to join us. We meet this Sunday, like every Sunday, at the Hideout (b/w 6th and 7th on Congress) from 2 to 6 PM.

We pretty much just sit around, draw, and talk. It's a simple idea, but it works. We've been doing this for three years now, and it keeps getting better. We also have fun extracurricular activities, like Drinking and Drawing and the anthologies that we're working on, but mostly it's about sitting with your friends and drawing.

USPS Change of Address

How many change of address forms to I have to fill out before the postal service will actually do anything about it? My roommate and I finished moving the 1st of this month, put in the request over a month ago (it said just drop it in the box so I did), put in another (by hand) when we went in two weeks later to find they hadn't received it, and now we call and find that they still haven't heard of us, and are still giving us the "it'll take 7-10 days" line.

My roommate's getting anxious over some important bit of mail (a check) and this is getting out of hand. Is there anything we can do apart from screaming ourselves stupid at them?

Free Ballet Tickets

I've got two tickets to the Ballet for tomorrow (Sat) night that I can't use. It's Romeo and Julliet, row U on the main floor.

First one to post saying they're interested gets 'em. You tell me how to contact you, I give you directions on how to pick up the tickets.

Gothic/Victorian Styled Prom Dresses?

Prom is coming up next Saturday and I have long procrastinated finding a nice dress, because I totally rule at procrastination :)

The other day I was watching Nosferatu (a B&W silent film about a vampire that is set in the late 1800's) and I absolutely fell in love with the way that a character in the movie (Nina) dressed, especially this one particular dress she was wearing. And suddenly I was struck with an image of a possible prom dress.

And so comes my question, where the heck can I find a Victorian/Gilded Age/Gothic Lolita styled dress in Austin? (As in petticoats and corsets basically). I don't some vinyl dress from Hot Topic. This is prom and I want a dress that's elegant and at the same time unique. Does anyone know of a place? I'd really appreciate it :)
